Release Highlights & Benefits
Enhancement: Email previews now support light and dark mode
Accessibility: These updates continue to improve accessibility across key areas of the interface by strengthening semantic markup, keyboard navigation, text contrast, and structural consistency, making content easier to interpret and navigate for assistive technology users.
Bug fixes: Giving and GTE Reporting, Email Marketing (including Templates, Reporting, Email History, and Opt‑Out Reporting), Community Management, Member Records, Platform Navigation, and Day of Giving and Giving Leaderboards.
Enhancement spotlight: Email Preview Experience Enhancements
This enhancement improves the email preview experience by letting admins view content in both light and dark mode.
Admins can now preview email content in both light and dark mode directly from the email preview experience.
Admins understand how emails may appear to recipients using different display settings. Improves confidence that email content, styling, and readability are clear before sending.
Theme selection applies only to the preview experience and does not affect how emails are ultimately sent to recipients.
Accessibility updates
This release improves accessibility in core Encompass areas by incorporating:
Content Page Markup is easier for assistive technologies to interpret
Class notes text contrast is improved
Content Submenus support keyboard navigation
Duplicate IDs and parsing errors are corrected
Donate menu behavior is more predictable
Error lists use proper list structure
Image removal control has clearer labeling
Visual headings use semantic markup
Content Page Markup is Easier for Assistive Technologies to Interpret (WCAG 4.1.1 Parsing, Level A):
Page markup has been improved by correcting parsing errors, invalid element nesting, and duplicate element IDs that could make content difficult for assistive technologies to interpret. These updates help browsers and assistive tools read affected pages more consistently, improving overall accessibility and reliability.
Class Notes Text Contrast is Improved (WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum), Level AA):
Class notes styling has been updated so photo captions and posted‑on text use colors with stronger contrast. These changes improve readability and provide a clearer, more accessible experience for users viewing class notes.
Duplicate IDs and Parsing Errors are Corrected (WCAG 4.1.1 Parsing, Level A):
Duplicate element IDs and related page markup issues have been corrected to reduce parsing errors that could make page structure harder for assistive technologies to interpret. These updates support more reliable navigation and consistent interpretation across affected pages.
Error Lists Use Proper List Structure (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, Level A):
Visually grouped error messages have been updated to use proper list markup where appropriate. This helps screen reader users better understand the number of errors present and how the messages relate to one another, improving clarity and navigation.
Image Removal Control has Clearer Labeling (WCAG 2.4.6 Headings and Labels, Level AA):
The accessible label for the image removal control has been improved so screen reader users can more clearly understand the purpose of the action. This makes the remove image option easier to identify and use.
Visual Headings Use Semantic Markup (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, Level A):
Visual heading text has been updated to use appropriate semantic markup, ensuring it is correctly identified within the page structure rather than treated as standard paragraph text. This helps screen reader users better understand page organization and navigate affected content more easily.
