SETE Process - External Control Variables

Modified on: Mon, Feb 28, 2022 at 2:56 PM

Course Evaluations supports the Student Evaluation of Teaching Effectiveness (SETE) instrument and scoring algorithm developed by the University of North Texas (UNT). This document outlines the steps necessary to ensure the successful generation of SETE scores.

External Control Variables

There are several control variables that are used in conjunction with the SETE survey responses to generate the SETE scores. All of these control variables are optional, but it is important to be consistent. If you are using a variable for courses, students, or faculty… use them for the entire population. SETE may have issues sampling if only a few members in the population have control data set.

The tables below describe the control variables and how each value is made available to the SETE algorithm through Course Evaluations.
