Key Assessments and Thresholds
Key Assessments
Sometimes referred to as a signature assignment, a key assessment evaluates students' proficiency in key learning outcomes, skills or competencies through comprehensive projects or assignments. These assessments are used across courses to ensure consistent evaluation and gather program-level data.
Thresholds
Thresholds are used in conjunction with the Performance Results Scale. Thresholds define the Performance Results Scale at the individual assessment level. The Performance Results Scale determines how many units (categories) there are while thresholds decide where cutoff points for each category are for an individual assessment. This means that thresholds are customizable and set at the individual assessment level.
When assessments have been aligned to outcomes, in conjunction with the Performance Results Scale these thresholds will support the aggregation of measuring student learning in the Students Outcomes tab, Course Outcomes views, and institutional learning outcomes measurement in the Outcomes administrative experience.
