Feature Toggles

Manage early access to new features and adopt them on your timeline!

One benefit of moving to SaaS is the ability to introduce changes to our solutions much faster than we historically could. However, with constant change, users can feel anxious or experience change fatigue. We understand that feeling. To help, we have opted to put some new features behind a feature toggle.

You can give your users early access when it's least disruptive to courses and schedules. We'll release certain new features with a feature toggle. For a limited time, you can test the new feature and provide early access when you're ready. In a future release, we'll remove the toggle and make the feature available to all users. This timeline depends on the feature’s complexity. We'll announce in future release notes when each toggle will be removed.

Access feature toggles

To access the feature toggles:

  1. Go to the Admin Panel.

  2. Select Configure on the The Ultra Experience is here! module.

There are two sections where you can turn toggles on or off.

    • Upcoming Features

Before official release, features behind a toggle appear here. You can turn them on or off before release.

    • Available Features

After release, the toggle moves here and keeps the setting you chose in Upcoming Features.

Use feature toggles

When you’re ready, use the toggle to turn the feature on or off. Expand the feature using the accordion arrow. This will display the feature's toggle and a description that highlights the feature’s function and benefits. Collapse the description the same way. You can quickly scan the list to see which features are on or off by checking the symbol found to the right of each feature name; it will say "On" or "Off."

The Automations feature in the Available Features area, expanded to show the feature description and the feature toggle, which is highlighted by a box. The feature toggle is turned on. The feature is designated as on by a circle with a checkmark in it and the word "Yes" next the accordion arrow.

Note

Not every new feature will be released with a feature toggle. Our release notes will highlight which features will include a feature toggle.
