Certificate Management

Certificate managers can add and update certificate templates. Certificates in Course Catalog are PDFs that are awarded to learners based on measures defined by the offering manager or certificate and progress assigner. When learners successfully meet the requirements, they are awarded the certificate. They will then be able to download the PDF, and they will have access to a certificate authenticity link that they can share with others which will verify their achievement. Certificate managers can also download certificates or certificate data.

The Certificate Management screen

The Certificate Management screen lists all the certificates currently in Course Catalog. This is where you add, updates, and delete certificate templates and download certificates or certificate data.

  1. Select Administration from the home screen.

  2. Select Certificate Management.

Add a certificate template

A certificate template is the blank PDF certificate that will be filled out for each learner when they have completed the course requirements set when the certificate is assigned to an offering. The template will contain fillable fields that are mapped to specific Blackboard data for each learner.

  1. Select Add Certificate Template.

  2. Upload a PDF certificate.

  3. Add certificate data and map certificate fields.

  4. Select Save to save your certificate template.

Download certificates or certificate data

An admin can download some or all of the certificates granted to a certain user or in a certain course from the Certificate Management screen.

  1. Select Download Certificates.

  2. Choose Search By Username or Search by Course ID.

  3. Type the Username or Course ID and select Search.

To download the certificates themselves, select the box next to each certificate you want to download, then select Download Selected Certificates. Each certificate will be downloaded separately. Make sure that you have given your browser permission for the site to download multiple files.

To download certificate data, which will download a single CSV file containing the data about the selected certificates, select the box next to each certificate you are interested in. Select Download as CSV.

Note

Certificates from TDM v1 are not available in the Course Catalog UI. If you need certificates from TDM v1 generated, you should create a ticket.

Search for a certificate template

Type the title of the certificate template you are looking for into the search box at the top of the list of templates.

Update a certificate template

  1. Locate the certificate template you want to update.

  2. Select the certificate name.

  3. Update the necessary fields.

  4. Select Save to save the changes.

Delete a certificate template

You can delete a certificate template unless it is associated with an offering.

  1. Locate the certificate template you want to delete.

  2. Select the three dot menu on the certificate template row.

  3. Select Delete.

If the certificate template is not available for deletion, the delete button will be grayed out.
