Language Settings

Accessing Blackboard in other languages

You can access Blackboard in different languages with language. Language settings are available at three levels: system, course, and user.

System level

Your institution defines one language as the system default. This language appears if no other language are set at the course or user level.

Course level

In some cases, instructors can set a different language. If the language pack is enforced, everyone sees that language. For example, a Spanish instructor might force all users to view the course material in Spanish. If the language isn't enforced, you can set your language to another language, if available. Your language preference overrides the course language if the course language isn't enforced.

User level

At the user level, individuals can select their preferred language.

Change the language

  1. Navigate to your profile by selecting your name in the navigation.

  2. In System Settings, select the pencil or edit icon next to the current language.

  3. Select a language from the Language Settings drop-down list.

  4. Select Save.

Note

The check spelling tool supports English (United States), English (Great Britain), French, and Spanish. The check spelling tool does not work with other language packs. If the check spelling tool does not recognize the language pack, it uses a supported dictionary.
