Types of Questions

Multiple Choice

  • Uses radio buttons

  • Can add a textbox to answer choice

  • Can have the last answer be an "opt out" ("not applicable" answer choice)

  • Can have answer be "pre-selected" (default selection)

  • Displays in dropdown menu

  • Can have answer be "pre-selected" (so it will display in the dropdown box as default)

  • Cannot add textbox

  • Uses checkboxes

  • Can add a textbox to answer choice

Text Entry

  • Can specify number or text formatting

  • Can specify a character limit

  • Each textbox has all the formatting abilities of the regular textbox question

  • Can have a textbox be "required" (must fill out the textbox)

  • Can have an answer choice be "exclusive" (cannot fill out any other textbox)

  • Textbox - Textbox for entering in answers

  • Multiple textbox - Several textboxes listed one after the other, grouped together

Matrix

  • Questions are typically sharing a theme

    • “Indicate your agreement with the following statements (Q10- Q16)”

  • Can set an answer choice to be an "opt out"/Not applicable

  • Can set all answer choices with scale values to be the same

  • Matrix - Grid of questions sharing answer choices

Other

  • Instructions - Insert instructional text with no answer choices
