Remove Local Custom Content

As the custom content feature is no longer available, administrators upgrading to this version should have completed the activity of storing custom files (images, videos, styles and scripts) in the database. If this task is yet to be performed, before upgrading to this version, perform the steps described in any previous version of this topic.

With the introduction of the Custom Content feature in Forms Builder 3.6, custom images, videos, styles, and scripts can be stored in the database. After December 2021, custom files in local file systems will no longer be supported.

To remove the dependency on the local file system:

  1. Select the Custom Content tile.

  2. Click Select custom content files and select your custom .css files (or drag the files into the selection area).

  3. Repeat step 2 for any images, videos, or scripts that are used for customization.

The files will be uploaded to the database used by Forms Builder and added to the grid showing the currently uploaded files.

Depending on whether your forms and form sequences use the Class property in Form Designer, the Theme-Custom property in Sequence Designer, or the Customerincludes.html file, perform the following additional steps.

Class Property

The Class property is available for forms, form sections, and components. The Class property references style rules defined in a custom .css file that is linked in the customerIncludes.html file or added as a custom theme in Settings.

After uploading the custom .css to the database, update the affected sequences by selecting the applicable .css file in the Theme-Custom Content property of Sequence Designer.

Custom Themes

After December 2021, you can no longer:

  • Select the Theme-Custom option in Sequence Designer.

  • Add your own Kendo or Bootstrap themes. You can only utilize Kendo or Bootstrap theme that are available out-of-the-box with Forms Builder.

If you used custom themes, after uploading the .css and images for the custom themes to the database, update the affected sequences by selecting the applicable .css file in the Theme-Custom Content property of Sequence Designer. The images referenced in the .css will be found by the browser.

Customerincludes.html

The purpose of the /Content/Custom/CustomerIncludes.html file was to provide links to .css files that apply styles globally for all sequences. If your Customerincludes.html file has .css or image file links, upload the linked files to Custom Content.

After uploading the .css and images to the database linked in the customerincludes.html to the database, update the affected sequences by selecting the applicable .css file in the Theme-Custom Content property of Sequence Designer. The images referenced in the .css will be found by the browser.

Navigation Bar Logos

If you customized the navigation bar logo in your form sequences, upload your logo image file into the Custom Content workspace, select the check box to indicate that the uploaded image is a logo, and update your sequences in Sequence Designer by selecting the logo image in the Nav Bar Logo property. For more information, see Navigation Bar Logos.
