Assign Roles to Users

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, depending on the business requirements, roles are assigned to users in the Security configuration form (under System Administration > Security). The roles in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations have privileges to specific modules.

Roles for the Student accounting module

To work with the Student accounting module, following default roles are available in Anthology Finance & HCM that can be assigned to users with specific business roles:

  • CMC: Student accounting administrator – A user with this role has permissions to perform all setup related configurations and operational tasks.

  • CMC: Student accounting manager – A user with this role has permissions to perform all operational tasks and can only view the setup forms.

Roles for the Faculty management module

To work with the Faculty management module of Anthology Finance & HCM, you must grant necessary permissions to the Action menu items that begin with CMC, such as CMCFMFacultyTypeEntityView, CMCFMEntityRoleEntityView, etc.

Roles for the Federal work study feature

To work with the Federal work study related functionality and process federal work study earning lines, the following default role is available in Anthology Finance & HCM that can be assigned to users with specific business roles:

  • CMC: Federal work study administrator - A user with this role can configure federal work study related setup and payroll data, and generate the federal work study earning lines.

  • CMC: Federal work study manager - A user with this role can configure federal work study related setup and payroll data, and can view the generated federal work study earning lines.

    Users assigned to the CMC: Federal work study manager or CMC: Federal work study administrator role will be able to perform the following activities:

    • In the Student accounting module, setup configurations and perform all operational tasks.

    • In the Human resource module:

      • Create/maintain Employee

      • Create/maintain Jobs

      • Create/maintain Positions, that includes:

        • Accessing the Anthology Payroll tab

        • Creating and maintaining the data in the change timelines of the Anthology Payroll tab

      • Create and maintain Departments

      • Maintain the setup parameters

      • Access the Scheduling option to create working time templates and calendars.

Role for the Human Resource and Payroll Integrations

  • The CMC: Payroll chief supervisor - A user with this role is authorized to process payroll for employees from the data (earning lines) received from an external system subscribed to Anthology Finance & HCM Azure Service Bus (ASB) topics).

    This role enables the user to access and run the Process Earning Lines From External Systems Batch Job.

Role for the IPEDS Feature

To work with the IPEDS feature, the following default role is available in Anthology Finance & HCM that can be assigned to users with specific business roles:

  • CMC: IPEDS administrator - A user with this role will have access to the IPEDS setup forms and reports available in the Human resource module, and the IPEDS reporting tab in the Employee and Positions forms.

    Note
    • Users will be able to configure the IPEDS setups and generate IPEDS reports, if in addition to the CMC: IPEDS administrator role they have any or a combination of the following roles:
      • Human resource assistant
      • Human resource manager
      • Compensation and benefits manager
      • Payroll administrator
      • Payroll manager
      • Employee
      • Manager
      • CMC: Payroll chief supervisor
