Manage Security Groups

Occupation Insight supports institutional administrators needing to manage user access across multiple locations (institutions) whose users are managed under the same instance of Microsoft Entra (ME-ID). In this scenario ME-ID security groups are configured to locations and assigned roles via Occupation Insight. You must register Occupation Insight as an Enterprise App.

Note: User and group role assignment in ME-ID is overridden if the administrator configures security groups in Occupation Insight. For example, If User1 is part of a group with Reader role access in ME-ID, and the administrator assigns that group Contributor access via the Occupation Insight web app, User1 will be granted Contributor access in the Occupation Insight web app. Once a security group is configured in Occupation Insight for any location, access for all locations must be configured inOccupation Insight. You do not need to use this feature if you only manage user access for a single location in ME-ID.

Procedure to Add Security Groups

Note: Register the Occupation Insight as an Enterprise app.

  1. Log in as Administrator.

  2. On the home page, click the Security Group Arrow icon beside the Admin user.

  3. Click the Manage Security Groups option from the list. Occupation Insight displays the Location Security Groups page.

  4. In Location Security Groups page, you can view the following fields.

    Description

    Name Displays the descriptive name of the tenant.
    Friendly Name Displays a configured name in the Locations drop-down menu.
  5. In Location Security Groups page, take the appropriate action:

    Add Security Groups

    1. Select the required tenant record from the grid. Occupation Insight enables the Add Security Group button.

    2. Click the Add Security Group button on the toolbar. Occupation Insight allows you to add a new security group to the selected Security Group Id.

    3. Click the arrow in the grid.

    4. Select a campus in the Campus dropdown, and then enter the Security Group Id and add the roles for the group.

    Update Roles

    1. Select the required tenant record from the grid.

    2. Select the check box of the Security Group ID.

    3. Select the required role from the Role drop-down list Occupation Insight updates the roles for the selected Security Group Id.

    Note: Occupation Insight allows you to add Reader/ Contributor role for a security group.

    Remove Security Groups

    1. Select the required tenant record from the grid.

    2. Select the check box of the security group ID. Occupation Insight enables the Remove Security Group button.

    3. Click the Remove Security Group button on the toolbar. Occupation Insight removes the selected Security Group Id.
