About Holds

Records of the Holds entity enable blocking of functions such as class registration, disbursement of financial aid, printing a transcript, and so on. The records can affect the following business areas:

  • Academic Records
  • Admissions
  • Career Services
  • Financial Aid
  • Housing
  • Student Accounts
  • Student Services

    Example

    A Hold can be applied to students who have overdue bills to prevent the student from receiving a transcript or borrowing books from the library.

In the hold record, the Impact field lists areas that a hold can apply to.

Holds associated with contacts can be viewed by users with appropriate permissions. For example:

  • Users in the Finance department can view Hold records on financial aid only.
  • Users in the Housing department can view Hold records specific to dormitory room allotment.

Note: In the contact form, associated hold assignment records are displayed in the Hold Assignments grid. This enables the advisor to quickly view hold assignments that are set for the student.
