Troubleshooting Integrations
This section provides detailed insights into common error types encountered during Anthology Student and Blackboard LMS integration, focusing on readiness states, data conflicts, and incomplete data issues. It outlines typical error messages and practical remediation steps to ensure smooth synchronization between systems.
The integration between Anthology Student and Blackboard for persons, terms, classes, instructor assignments, and student registration is event-based. There are certain data dependencies in Blackboard—for example, a student can't register for a class and be enrolled in the Blackboard online course unless both the user and course already exist in Blackboard.
The integration is designed to keep Blackboard updated with everything that’s happening in Anthology Student in near real time. This includes any term setup, class scheduling, or registration occurring in both current and all future terms. This is different than batch file integrations administrators you may be familiar with; those integrations tend to be oriented around fixed data load timeframes.
With the Anthology Integration Hub, all updates made in Anthology Student will be reflected in Blackboard, keeping the two in sync. If a student registers for a future term, they will see that registration reflected immediately in Blackboard. Students can be restricted from accessing the online course until access policies are met, but this is managed through configuration, not through a practice of timing when data sets are loaded.
