About the Country Object

The Country Object is a Reference Object, and stores Country information such as country code, the format of the Phone, Social Security Number (SSN), and ZIP/Postal Code. For more information about Reference Objects, see About Talisma Higher Education Foundation.

The Country Object consists of the Code Property to store the code of a country. The Country Object also comprises three format Properties, Phone Format, Social Security Number (SSN) Format, and ZIP/Postal Code Format, that support three types of formats for Phone, Social Security Number (SSN), and ZIP/Postal Code values. The format of the Phone, Social Security Number (SSN), and ZIP/Postal Code of a Country are specified in the format Properties of the Country Object.

The Country Object enables you to set the format of a Normal Text type of Properties of an Object item. The format of the Properties can be set based on the Country that is associated with the Object item you are creating. This feature enables you to set a format specific to a country such that the format is automatically updated when you specify the value of the Property.

Example   A custom Object Hospital is created in Talisma that has a Many to One Relationship with the Country Object. WorldWaves Medicare operates its hospitals globally. It has operations in the USA, UK, Japan, and India. The value USA is set in the Country Property of the WorldWaves Medicare-NY Hospital Object item that is in New York state, USA. In this scenario, when the Talisma Client User types the phone number of the hospital in the Phone field, the format specific to the country USA will be applied. Similarly, the value India is set in the Country Property of the WorldWaves Medicare-Delhi Hospital Object item that is in New Delhi, India. In this scenario, when the Talisma Client user types the phone number of the hospital in the Phone field, the format specific to the country India will automatically be applied. Similarly, you can associate the format set for a Text type of Property of an Object based on the format of the Social Security Number (SSN) Format, and ZIP/Postal Code Format Properties of the associated Country Object item.

The functionality of the format set for the Phone Format, Social Security Number (SSN) Format, and ZIP/Postal Code Format Properties of the Country Object is applicable to other Objects based on the following settings in Talisma Business Administrator:

•   The Enable format setting for Text Properties option is selected in the System Options page.

•   The Object whose Text type of Properties must be formatted based on the selected Country has a Many to One or One to One Relationship with the Country Object.

Relationship of the Country Object With Other Objects

The Country Object is related to the following predefined Objects of Talisma in a One to Many Relationship, where the Country Object is on the One side of the Relationship:

•   Contact

•   Address

•   State

•   Orders
