Archiving is an activity in which old, inactive Objects are moved to a separate database for future reference. Archiving improves system performance by moving redundant data from Talisma Main Database to Talisma Archive Database to avoid overloading Talisma Main Database. In order to use the Archive feature, Talisma Archive Database must be installed. You can archive Campaigns, Interactions, and custom Object items in Talisma.

The duration after which a Campaign is archived is set in Talisma Database Administrator. The Database Administrator User must also specify the batch size in which the archiving will occur.

An archived Campaign is read-only, and cannot be modified. You cannot restore an archived Campaign.

To View an Archived Campaign

1.  Select Campaigns from the Object Selector, or view a Campaign-specific Workspace.

2.  Using the Advanced button in the Left pane, specify and run Filter conditions to view Campaigns in the Object Table View.

To include archived Campaigns, select the Include data from Archive Database option.

Archiving of Talisma Campaigns

Talisma handles archiving of General and Newsletter Campaigns differently. The archiving of General and Newsletter Campaigns in Talisma is explained below:

Archiving of General Campaigns

A General Campaign is archived when the following conditions are met:

•   No events are recorded in the History tab of the Campaign window for the period specified in Talisma Database Administrator.

•   The Campaign has been in the Inactive state for the specified period.

•   The Campaign has not been deleted.

You can reuse the Workflow or Mailing List of an archived General Campaign, but you cannot perform any operations on the Campaign. When a General Campaign is archived, Talisma will not perform automated operations pertaining to the Campaign. For example, if a Mailing List has been scheduled to run after 40 days, but the Campaign is archived on the 30th day, the Mailing List will not run at the scheduled time.

When a General Campaign is archived, the Campaign Workflow is reproduced in Talisma Archive Database, but a copy of the Workflow is retained in Talisma Main Database. However, the Targets along with their complete history are moved from Talisma Main Database to Talisma Archive Database.

Archiving of Newsletter Campaigns

A Newsletter Campaign is usually an ongoing Campaign, and even if you do not perform any operations on it for a long time, newsletters continue to be dispatched periodically, based on the Mailing List Schedule. Targets in a Newsletter Campaign can progress through the Workflow several times, unlike in a General Campaign. Therefore, Targets that have already flowed through the Newsletter Campaign are archived.

Targets of a Newsletter Campaign are archived periodically, when the following conditions are met:

•   The History tab of the Target window has not recorded any events for the period specified in Talisma Database Administrator.

•   Targets have been inactive for the specified period.

•   Targets have not been deleted.
