Enabling Event Support

You can enable event support for custom objects.

When event support is enabled, the Desktop Client user can select items of that object and associate them with an event. Associated object items are created as Participants.

Note

By default, event support is enabled for the contact object.

Event support can be enabled for an object if it shares a one-to-one or one-to-many relationship with the contact object where the contact is on the one side of the relationship. Event support cannot be disabled.

To Enable Event Support

1.  Click the Objects node in the navigation pane.

2.  In the results pane, select the object for which you want to enable event support.

3.  Click Feature Support. The Feature Support dialog box is displayed.

4.  Select the Event Support check box. The check box is displayed only if Event Management is installed.

In the Relationship drop-down list, one-to-one and one-to-many relationships that the contact shares with the selected object are displayed. The Link to Contact relationship is also available for selection when you enable event support for the following objects: Academic Progress, Course History, Enrollment, Goal, Lead, and Test Score.

5.   Select a relationship and click Save. A message is displayed prompting you to confirm that support will be enabled permanently.

The Link to Contact relationship is available for selection in the Relationship drop-down list when you enable event support for the following objects: Academic Progress, Course History, Enrollment, Goal, Lead, and Test Score.

6.  Click OK.

Event support is enabled for the object, and the value in the Event column is set to Yes.

Note

•   If event support was enabled in a previous version, it continues to be enabled when you upgrade to the current version.

•   For an object, the Event Support check box will be disabled if event support cannot be enabled.

•   When event support is enabled:

◦   The Manage <Object> for Event permission is added as a child permission under the Manage Objects for Event permission. The newly added permission is automatically selected.

◦    A new one-to-many relationship is created between the object for which event support is enabled and the participant object. The object is on the one side and the participant object is on the many side of the relationship. This relationship cannot be deleted.
