About the Do Not Call Feature
The Do Not Call (DNC) feature helps you identify whether phone numbers of a lead are available for call based on the color and icon suffixed to the numbers. This feature is used in a scenario where a lead’s phone numbers are registered in the National Do Not Call Registry that is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). If such numbers are called, penalties are levied by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for making unsolicited calls.
If an organization has an Established Business Relationship (EBR) with a lead, the organization can call the phone number even though it is registered with the FTC. However, if the lead has explicitly requested to not be called, the phone number is marked as DNC in CampusNexus CRM to indicate that the Lead must not be called on that phone number.
Following are the prerequisites to work with the DNC feature:
• The DNC feature must be enabled in Main database.
• CampusNexus CRM must be integrated with the DNCall component of the DNCSolution from PossibleNOW, using a secure FTP account.
For information on enabling the DNC feature and integrating with the DNCall component from PossibleNOW, contact CampusNexus CRM Product Support.
When the DNC feature is enabled, the status of all phone numbers in the predefined phone number properties of the Lead is automatically marked as Pending, and is displayed in red, besides being suffixed with a DNC icon. To determine if the phone numbers of a lead are available for call, the phone numbers of the lead must be sent for scrubbing to PossibleNOW through a secure FTP account.
Based on the scrubbing results, the phone numbers are marked as available to call or DNC. The phone numbers of leads that are available for call appear in green, and are suffixed with a callable icon.
The values in the following four predefined phone properties of the Lead are displayed in red or green and suffixed with an icon for DNC or Callable:
• Phone - Available in the Properties tab
• Phone 1 - Available in the Address group of the Properties tab
• Phone 2 - Available in the Address group of the Properties tab
• Mobile - Available in the Address group of the Properties tab
Additionally, custom Phone properties of the Lead can also be enabled for DNC scrubbing. For more information, contact CampusNexus CRM Product Support.
By default, when scrubbing is enabled for Phone Properties of the Lead, the phone numbers appear in red, and are suffixed with the DNC icon. The status of such phone numbers is marked as pending for scrubbing. The status of the phone numbers are later updated to DNC or callable, based on the scrubbed result received from PossibleNOW. For information on scrubbing, see Business Administrator Help.
The visual indication of the Lead phone numbers in red or green is displayed in the following areas in CampusNexus CRM:
• Lead Table View
• Properties tab in the Lead Item View
• Set Properties dialog box
• Preferred Properties pane
The colors for the phone numbers of the Lead are displayed in the following scenarios:
• When the Lead Table View is exported to Microsoft Excel. In this scenario, the colors of the phone numbers will be copied to the exported file.
• When Lead items are copied from the Lead Table View (using CTRL+C) into Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel, the colors of the phone numbers are also copied.
The DNC feature is also supported during bulk import of Leads using the Bulk Mode option in the Data Management Utility. When Leads are created through bulk import, the call status of phone numbers of Leads is marked as DNC, and marked for scrubbing. When the phone numbers are scrubbed, the call status of the leads are updated as callable or DNC.
