Running a Report in the Background

By choosing to run a report in the background, you can continue to work in the Talisma Analytics Workspace or any other Workspace in Talisma without waiting for Talisma to complete the operation of generating the report. This feature is useful when Talisma Analytics needs to process a large amount of data to generate a report.

You can run multiple reports simultaneously. The reports are queued and processed in the order in which you select them.

To Run a Report in the Background

1.  In any Workspace, select Analytics from the GoTo menu. The Talisma Analytics Workspace is displayed.

2.  In the My Reports pane, expand the Favorites folder if the report has been added to it.

- OR -

Expand the folder or sub-folder within the My Folders folder in which the report is stored.

3.  Select the report you want to run.

4.  From the File menu, select Run in background.

- OR -

Click . The report is generated in the background, while you continue to work in the Talisma Analytics Workspace or any other Workspace in Talisma.

To Run a Report in the Background using the Reports Manager

1.  In any Workspace, select Analytics from the GoTo menu. The Talisma Analytics Workspace is displayed.

2.  From the GoTo menu, select Reports Manager. The Report Manager dialog box is displayed.

3.  Select the folder, or sub-folder in which the report is stored. Select the report you want to run.

4.  Click Run Background. The report is generated in the background, while you continue to work in the Talisma Analytics Workspace or any other Workspace in Talisma.

To Cancel a Report Being Run in the Background

1.  In the Talisma Analytics Workspace, from the GoTo menu, select Reports Status. The Reports Status dialog box is displayed.

2.  From the Reports running currently list, select the report and click Cancel Report. The report generation process will be stopped.

Note 

•   You can run only Cross Tab and Drill Down reports in the background.
