Add, Remove, and Waive Requirement Rules for Students

You can use the Requirement Rules Audit tab to:

  • Add a requirement rule specific to the student
  • Remove requirement rules that are specific to the student
  • Waive a requirement rule

The requirement rule reviews the courses in the applicable areas and applies the relevant courses to fulfill the rule until all requirements are satisfied. These courses are displayed in the applied courses section of the DPA Requirement Rule Audit tab. When a requirement rule is applied at the Program level, it consumes all applicable courses within the PV(s) and AoS(s) course lists (and EPs) to fulfill the rule for the student.

  • When a requirement rule is applied at the Program level, it consumes all applicable courses listed under the PV(s) and AoS(s), including EPs, to fulfill its requirements for the student.

  • When a requirement rule is applied at the PV level, it consumes all applicable courses listed under the PV course list and EPs, as well as those in the AoS course list and EPs, to fulfill its requirements.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • Common - Student - View authorization

  • Academics - Degree Progress Audit - Edit authorization

You should also be familiar with the Background for Requirement Rules.

If you want to select the Advanced – Rule Based in the Type list for requirement rules to specify more complex requirements, your institution must have selected Yes for Enable Rule Based Requirement Rules and LevelsClosed Select Yes to enable the Advanced – Rule Based option in the Type list for requirement rules. When selected, you can specify more complex requirements using operators with any or all of the characters you specify in the codes for course characteristics. Yes is also required to specify requirements rules for program versions, the program version category level of a catalog for an elective or substitution pool, and the area of study category level of a catalog for an elective or substitution pool. Select No to use the existing options of Standard and Advanced - Course Levels and Course Attributes. when it configured advanced features in the system settings for Anthology Student.

If you want to enable the advanced requirement rules engine and user interface in the Student Web App, set Enable Advanced Requirement Rules FeatureClosed This feature enables the advanced requirement rules engine and user interface in the Student Web App. If you enable this feature, the system permanently disables features related to requirement rules in the legacy interface. to Yes . (Select the Settings tile > expand System > select Advanced Features.)

Access Method

Select the Students tile > select the name in the Students list > expand Academic Records > select the Degree Progress Audit tile > select the Requirement Rules Audit tab.

Procedures for Managing Requirement Rules

  1. Verify that the program version is correct. If not, select the specific program version in the Program Version drop-down list.

  2. Review the page. You can review:

    • The progress bar that shows the percentage of requirement rules fulfilled.

    • The summary for requirement rules that shows the numbers for Required Requirement Rules, Fulfilled Requirement Rules, and Unfulfilled Requirement Rules.

    • The requirement rule is in red it is unfulfilled and in grey it is fulfilled.
  3. Take any needed additional actions.
