ZIP Code Import

You can use the ZIP Code Import page to create and queue a batch that imports ZIP code data and replaces the data in the Anthology Student with the data in the file.

When you import a file, any existing ZIP codes are removed and replaced with the ZIP codes in the imported file.

Use the History tab to review the status of all the batches, review the results of specific batches, and manage the batches.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • Common - Processes - View authorization

  • Contact Manager - Processes - ZIP Code Import authorization

Because existing ZIP codes are removed when a file is imported, Anthology recommends that you back up your ZIP code data before you import the new ZIP codes. The existing ZIP codes are located in the SyZipCode table in the Anthology Student database. (You can use the same location to view the new ZIP codes after they are imported. )

You must have a comma-separated value (CSV) file that contains the ZIP codes with a .csv extension. For example, you can import a file from http://www.zipcodedownload.com.

The file must be in the format specified in the table.

Procedure to Create a Batch to Import ZIP Codes

Process Tab

Use the Process tab to filter the data and queue the batch job.

  1. Select the Choose File button.

  2. In the dialog, select the file and select the Open button.

Anthology Student displays the name of the file in the File To Import field.

  3. Select the Queue ZIP Code Import button and confirm you want to overwrite the existing ZIP codes.

  4. In the Queue Batch dialog, review or change the name of the batch and select the Queue button.

Anthology Student processes the batch and overwrites the ZIP codes with the ZIP codes in the file. The ZIP codes are then available to select in the lists for ZIP codes in Anthology Student.

When the batch completes, Anthology Student displays the results on the History tab so that you can review the results and verify that the ZIP codes were imported.

History Tab

Use the History tab to review the results of manually queued jobs.

Batches on this tab are available for 28 days by default. Anthology Student removes them after 28 days. If you need to keep the information for a batch, use the Export (Export button) button on the toolbar.

  1. Review the status and values for the batches in the list.

Awaiting indicates the batch is awaiting the completion of a dependent job or batch. Deleted indicates that the batch has been canceled.

Submitted ByClosed The name of the staff member who submitted the background job or batch for processing.

  2. Select the name of the batch in the list. Anthology Student displays the details for the job in the Job Results list.
