Perform a Hypothetical Scenario for the DPA Using Degree Explorer

You can use the Degree Explorer to view the progress of a student if they were to change programs, program versions, catalogs, and area of studys. The system takes the selections and runs the DPA with the student’s completed courses to view the progress of the DPA for the scenario.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • Common - Student - View authorization

  • Academics - Degree Progress Audit - Edit authorization

To include transfer credits that are not approved, your institution must have selected the following check box when it configured transfer credits settings for the campus.

Display Unapproved Transfer Credits filter in Hypothetical Degree Progress AuditClosed Select this check box to include the transfer credits that were not approved in the hypothetical Degree Progress Audit. If selected, the advisors can select the types of transfer credits that were not in the approved state and which they want to include.

When your institution configured the advanced features in the system settings for Anthology Student, it must have selected No for Enable New Standard DPAClosed Select this feature flag to enable your institution to use the new standard DPA logic. This setting centralizes the experience between students, advisors, and administrative staff creating a common experience and language within the DPA and its presentation. When you enable this flag, it disables the old DPA in the legacy interface, Student and Staff Portals, and enables the common DPA experience.

Access Method

Select the Students tile > select the name in the Students list > expand Academic Records > select the Degree Progress Audit tile.

Procedure to Perform a Degree Explorer Analysis

  1. Verify that the program version is correct. If not, select the specific program version in the Program Version drop-down list.

  2. Select the Degree Explorer link below the progress bar.

  3. Specify the following values.

    Area of StudyClosed The various areas such as Major, Minor, or Concentration that the students have taken to complete their degree. The areas of study are configured by your institution.

    CatalogClosed The catalog configured by your institution. The catalog contains the courses required for a program version or area of study. The Default - None catalog should not be used.

    Program Closed The name of the program. Programs are configured by your institution.

    Program VersionClosed The program version associated with the student or item.

  4. Select Transfer Credit StatusesClosed You can use this field to select the transfer credits that are not approved ..

    Anthology Student displays a Select Transfer Credit Statuses dialog box.

  5. Review or select the following values.

    CodeClosed The alphanumeric code assigned to the item by your institution. In most cases, codes must be unique.

    NameClosed The descriptive name of the item.

  6. Select the Select button and then select Run.  

    Anthology Student displays a page with a Degree Progress Audit tab like the one on the Degree Progress Audit page.

    If you selected unapproved transfer credits and one or more courses were fulfilled using them, Anthology Student displays a yellow bar on the left next to the status of Fulfilled to indicate that they are not approved.

  7. To return to the Degree Progress Audit page, select Return to DPA.
