Data Translation

You can use the Data Translation page to translate data for specific entities into local languages. Anthology Student generates an Excel file for the selected entity data. You can download the report, populate the Translated_Code and Translated_Description fields with appropriate translations, and upload/import the translations into Anthology Student.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • Common - Processes - View authorization

  • System Administration - Processes - Data Translation - Queue authorization

Access Method

Select the Processes tile > locate System Administration > select Data Translation.

Procedure to Create and Queue a Batch

Process Tab

Use the Process tab to filter the translation data and queue the batch job.

  1. Specify the values under Selection Criteria.

    EntityClosed Indicates the name by which the system identifies this entity. It cannot be changed.

    LocaleClosed Indicates the language into which you want to translate the entity data.

    You can select one of the following entities for each report:

    • Address Type
    • Country
    • Course Category
    • Course Type
    • Document Status
    • Gender Pronouns
    • School Status
    • Title
  2. To download the report, select the Download button.

    If you are downloading the file for the first time, the translated code and translated description column will be blank.

  3. To upload a report, select Next. The Upload File section of the page is expanded.

    1. Select the Choose File button. The Import from File pop-up is displayed.

    2. Select the Browse button and navigate to the data translation file you want to upload.

    3. Select the Import to upload the file.

      If you want to remove the file, select Clear Attachment. If you want to cancel the process, select Cancel.

    4. Select the Queue Results button.

To view the imported data, you can reload the file with the selected entity and locale.

Anthology Student processes the batch and translates data. When the batch completes, Anthology Student displays the results on the History tab.

History Tab

For batches that you created to translate data, you can use the History tab on the Data Translation page to review the status of all the batches, review the results of specific batches, and manage the batches.

  1. Review the records in the Batches grid.

    BatchClosed The name of the batch.

    CreatedClosed The date when the item or person was added or the status change was entered.

    DurationClosed The amount of time it took to process the job or batch.

    StartedClosed The date and time when the first job within the batch started executing.

    Job StatusClosed The status of the job. Enqueued indicates the job is in the queue waiting to be executed. Scheduled indicates the job is scheduled to run at a future time. Processing indicates the job is running. Succeeded indicates the job was completed with no errors. Deleted indicates the job was completed with errors.

    Submitted ByClosed The name of the staff member who submitted the batch for processing.

  2. Select the name of the batch in the list. Anthology Student displays the details for the job in the Job Results grid.

  3. Review the values in the Job Results grid.

    Job Created Closed The date and time when the job was added to the background job queue.

    Job Started Closed The date and time when the job was pulled from the queue and started executing. The start time for a job will be the same time or later than the start time for the batch.

    Job StatusClosed The status of the job. Enqueued indicates the job is in the queue waiting to be executed. Scheduled indicates the job is scheduled to run at a future time. Processing indicates the job is running. Succeeded indicates the job was completed with no errors. Deleted indicates the job was completed with errors.

    ReportClosed The data translation report is an Excel file that includes the success/failure result of all the data translation entries along with the reason for failure.

  4. Select the Report link. Anthology Student downloads an Excel file as the result file that includes the success/failure result of all the data translation entries, along with the reason for failure.
