Load Factors
You can use the Load Factors page to configure the load factor for campuses. You can also select the campuses to which Registered Student Count ranges can be applied and define the ranges and load factors per range.
Anthology Student allows the creation of one load factor per campus. Additional load factors can be created for other campuses, but no campus can have multiple load factors.
The load factors range details that you specify here can then be:
-
Selected for courses (Select the Configuration tile > locate Faculty Workload > select Course Load Type Details.)
-
Copied from a course to classes or selected for classes (Select the Configuration tile > locate Faculty Workload > select Class Load Type Details.)
Prerequisites
To view the page, you must have Faculty Workload - Configuration - View authorization.
To edit the page, you must have Faculty Workload - Configuration - Manage authorization.
To edit an item associated with more than one campus, you must have access to all the campuses. For example, if the item is configured to be available at three campuses and you only have access to two of the campuses, you can view the item, but cannot edit it. When you add an item, you can only select campuses to which you have access.
Access Method
Select the Configuration tile > locate Faculty Workload > select Load Factors.
Filters
By default, the grid displays all records for the campuses you are authorized to work with. You can use the drop-down at the top of the page to display only records for a specific campus.

Implications of Changes in Range Details
If you use the Range Details grid to calculate loads on a term and if the pay is not generated for that term, Anthology Student updates the range applied in the Load Factors page and you have to manually evaluate all the load validations for that term in Assignment Manager page (Select the Processes tile > locate Faculty Workload > select Assignment Manager.
We recommend a manual evaluation of any terms that are in the process of load validation when changes are made to the range details. The changes to the range details are applied only in a go-forward method which means if you were partially through load validation, part of the loads may use the old ranges and use the new ranges this could be the institution's plan.
Example of Load Factors Configuration for Load Validation
In the following example, your institution configures the ranges below for load factors:
Registered Student Count Low | Registered Student Count High | Load Factors |
---|---|---|
1 | 3 | 0.25 |
4 | 998 | 0.5 |
999 | 9999 | 0.75 |
Ranges cannot cross or skip values (for example, if row 1 is 1 to 3, row 2 cannot have a value of 2 to 4).
In this example, the institution does not adjust the weight factors for classes above the maximum class size on the scheduled section.
To calculate the load on class sections with the above load factors, the table below displays the expected calculation.
Class Section | Number of Students Registered | Maximum Class Size of the Section | Load Factor from the Table Above | Class Section Normal Load from Load Details | Class Section Adjusted Load |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Section 1 | 1 | 20 | 0.25 | 3 | 0.75 |
Section 2 | 5 | 20 | 0.5 | 3 | 1.5 |
Section 3 | 8 | 20 | 0.5 | 3 | 1.5 |
Section 4 | 995 | 1000 | 0.5 | 3 | 1.5 |
Section 5 | 9990 | 10000 | 0.75 | 3 | 2.25 |
The formula for calculating Class Section Adjusted Load is Load Factor x Class Section Normal Load.
