Manage Student Groups for a Student

You can use the Group Memberships tile to display a list of groups for a student and use the list to manage those groups. Groups is a feature that you can use to organize students based on a common characteristic so that you can take actions for multiple students at once instead of each student individually.

By default, the list shows the student groups where the student is currently a member. The list is also sorted is alphabetically by the GroupClosed The name of the student group. If you are selecting a group and your institution has configured Anthology Student to limit groups to campuses, you can only select groups for the campus that you are assigned to. If you are selecting a group, it can also be filtered to display groups where you are the owner, public groups, and private groups to which you have been given access. column.

The list is not program version specific. The items in the list are associated with all the program versions in the Program Version list.

Access Method

Select the Students tile > select the name in the Students list > expand Contact Manager > select the Group Memberships tile.

Actions Available

Columns

Added ByClosed The name of the staff member that added the person or item.

Date AddedClosed The date when the item or person was added or the status change was entered.

Date RemovedClosed The date when the student was removed from the group.

GroupClosed The name of the student group. If you are selecting a group and your institution has configured Anthology Student to limit groups to campuses, you can only select groups for the campus that you are assigned to. If you are selecting a group, it can also be filtered to display groups where you are the owner, public groups, and private groups to which you have been given access.

Group TypeClosed The type of group. M indicates manual. D indicates dynamic. S indicates static. F indicates frozen.

Group VisibilityClosed Specifies whether a group is public or private. A public group can be accessed and used by all staff members who have view authorization. A private group can only be accessed and used by the owner and the staff members with view authorization that the owner specifies. If you are filtering, select the option "Is true" to display only the public groups and the option "Is false" to display only the private groups.

Hold ActionClosed Indicates the action to be blocked while a student is a member of the hold group.

Hold GroupClosed Specifies whether a Hold Code has been associated with the group. Being in a hold group prevents actions for students (such as preventing a student from registering). Hold Codes are associated with groups on the Hold Codes tab. You can set hold codes using the Settings tile for Financial Aid, Academic Records, Career Services, and so on.

Manually Added/RemovedClosed Specifies whether a person was manually added or removed.

Additional Tasks for the List

You can use the Show Removed Groups button on the toolbar to display the groups where the student was a member, but was removed from the group. When you select the Show Removed Groups button on the toolbar, Anthology Student displays additional columns in the list.

To hide the groups where the student was removed again, you can select the Hide Removed Groups button.
