Associate a Course as a Parent Course
You can associate a course as a parent course.
-
If a course is defined as dependent, you can select one or more courses as a parent. A dependent course can have more than one parent course. If a course is defined as dependent, the hours and credits fields will be disabled. These fields are not applicable for dependent courses.
-
A parent course can have only one course designated as a dependent.
Notes:
If your institution wants to set up courses with relationships, the best practice is to set up corequisite courses instead of parent and dependent courses.
If you are using track registration, students can only be registered in parent courses. You can only register students in dependent courses using term registration.
Prerequisites
You must have Academics - Configuration - Manage authorization.
To edit an item associated with more than one campus, you must have access to all the campuses. For example, if the item is configured to be available at three campuses and you only have access to two of the campuses, you can view, but cannot edit it. (When you add an item, you can only select campuses to which you have access.)
To add a parent course, you must have selected Yes for Dependent Course (Child) when you add or edited the course.
Access Method
Select the Configuration tile > locate Academic Records > select Courses > add or select a course in the list > select the Parent Courses & Equivalents tile.
