Associate a Course as a Parent Course

You can associate a course as a parent course.

  • If a course is defined as dependent, you can select one or more courses as a parent. A dependent course can have more than one parent course. If a course is defined as dependent, the hours and credits fields will be disabled. These fields are not applicable for dependent courses.

  • A parent course can have only one course designated as a dependent.

Notes:

If your institution wants to set up courses with relationships, the best practice is to set up corequisite courses instead of parent and dependent courses.

If you are using track registration, students can only be registered in parent courses. You can only register students in dependent courses using term registration.
